JUST IN: Arraignment Of NBA President, Paul Usoro, SAN, Fails, As Commission Invites Him Once Again
Posted: 11/Dec/2018

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission EFCC has failed to produce the Charge for the arraignment of the NBA President Paul Usoro SAN

TNL gathered that the arraignment had partly failed because the IPO with the charge did not appear before the Court.

Chief Olanipekun, SAN, was said to have led a host of SANs and several other lawyers to represent the NBA President in the suit, TNL learnt.

TNL gathered further that Chief Olanipekun, SAN, made a plea that the Court should direct the EFCC to serve the charge on the NBA President in court as both the President and EFCC’s prosecutor were in court, however, the court did not listen to the Learned Silk’s plea, but instead fixed the 18th day of December, 2018, for his arraignment.

The judge equally ordered the Commission to effect service of the charge on Usoro.

Thereafter, some EFCC operatives stationed at the court premises asked the NBA President to visit the office of the Commission which he did. As at the time of filing this report, Mr. Usoro is still with the Commission. He is yet to be served with the Charge.

The matter was listed as No: 20 on the cause list before Hon. Justice S.M. Hassan of the Federal High Court, Lagos.

Rotimi Oyedepo appeared for Prosecution while Chief Wole Olanipekun SAN led 7 other Senior Advocates and about 20 other lawyers for the defence.
